Starting a Fellowship Group

Starting a fellowship group in the public service is simple and rewarding. All it takes is two or more committed Christians who are willing to meet regularly—usually for an hour or less each week—to study God’s Word, pray together, and encourage one another in faith and daily life.

Most PSCF groups meet during the lunch hour, but you can choose a time and format that works best for your group. Some meet before work for breakfast, others bring lunch to a meeting room, and a few gather in nearby churches. The key is to create a welcoming, consistent space for connection and growth.

Prayer is at the heart of every group. Each meeting includes time to pray for one another, for our workplaces, for the public service, for our nation, and for special needs. Prayer is also a great way to begin the journey of forming a new group.

Our fellowship groups focus on the Word of God, not denominational differences. Scripture unites us as Christians and provides a foundation for encouragement and spiritual growth. Typically, a passage of scripture is chosen in advance for everyone to read and reflect on. During the meeting, the passage is read again, and members share insights, questions, and experiences. This shared approach keeps the conversation open and meaningful rather than centered on one teacher.

Fellowship groups are also a wonderful way to witness Christ’s work in the lives of public servants, providing hope and encouragement to both believers and seekers.
